Theere really isn't much point in writing a detailed preview of a NBA game that reminds me of a Dertoit Lions versus Cincinatti Bengals contest. I'll let you figure out which NFL team is who. Then again the Warriors could suffer tonight in the absence of the following players

Although, Crawford is probable.To make matters worse for Golden State, coach Don Nelson is dealing with a slew of injuries. Crawford is probable tonight with a sprained left ankle but forwards Stephen Jackson (swollen left hand), Corey Maggette (sore hamstrings) and Anthony Randolph (sprained left hand) will all be game time decisions

If the Warriors need any motivation (I have a hunch they do), they need to treat this games as personal. The Thunder stole our mascot's name and now we have no mascot. There's nobody to walk on their hands the full length of the court during timeouts. Nobody to breakdance with kids during breaks. No superhero to run in a circle carrying a sign to pump up the crowd. Nobody to do funny things with Franco Finn during the promos. And worst of all no inflatable Thunder. It's personal. Time to win.

Unforunately a trip to San Antonio is hardly the best remedy for the Warriors to try and wipe away their woes. However the facts are starting to leap out like a sore thumb. We've given up 130 points in at least 3 games and are the worst Defensive team in the league giving up 114.3 on average. I'd imply that Avery Johnson would be an ideal hire for this team but I'm saving that for a rainy day.

After their ejections last night maybe Nellie and Jackson can take out the fustrations on the Spurs and turn this into a possibly intriuging contest but I doubt it. The Spurs have most of their big guns back and a rout is looking very likely.

Imagine what if the Warriors had drafted Yao Ming instead of Mike Dunleavy J.R. We'd have obviously been more succesful with a lot more Playoff appearances, Baron Davis and Jason Richardson would still be here and really you wouldn't have to worry about the losing bit. Unforuntaely instead we drafted Mike Dunleavy drafted horrible players and gave them horrible contracts and we're still in the losing bracket. Ah well

Getting away from the what if's the Warriors take on the Rockets a team that dealt with small ball last year beating the Warriors twice. Even though T-Mac is out it's going to be tough to rely on Crawford and Morrow to win which means everyone has to contribute. At the moment we're stuck in a 7 game losing streak. Maybe then there is a small chance we can pull it together and win just one more game before Christmas.

Thanksgiving is usally the time of the year where you sit down, have some Turkey and watch some Football. Unfortunately toni9ght Warrior fans have to skip watching the Seattle and dallas contest and watch two horrible teams face off in the Maddison Square Garden What's not to love? I mean you pay $80 for a ticket, $20 for a hot dog and a beer, and the best show on the floor is Spike Lee's wardrobe. Mind you when the Knicks are only looking ahead at the possibility of signing LeBron well the majority of their games will be junk.

Golden State V Cleveland Preview

The day to buy stuff t'is what Black Friday is called. Anyone ever wonder why today is called Black Friday. Here's your answer

The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day. (see 'Origin of the name' below) More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

Anyway the Warriors shopping is in 2010 but it looks as if we won't have enough money to spend it on. Then again tonights opponents the Cavs are on fire 11 victories in 12 games? Shooting 60.8 percent. Lebron isn't even playing that much. The Warriors meanwhile are not. I commend the effort against the Celtics on Wednesday night, BUT letting a 14 point deficit go doesn't really make me too happy.

Crawfords first game with the Warriors is today. and what better opportunity for him to strut his stuff then against the terrible Wizards. Giving Arenas a max deal and...he can't play til January. Then they lost another starter, Brenden Haywood. AND THEN they lost to an undermanned Knicks team, who only had 7 active players. Well, that sucks. And of course Eddie Jordan was fired while handing out Turkeys for a charity cause. Ah well..

We're already 12 games into the season into the season and so far, things have been pretty exciting. Now the real test begins. The Dubs start a 9 game stretch where 8 games are on the road. They go head to head with some pretty tough competition, Philly, Boston, Cleveland, Houston and San Antonio. (to name a few)



Is help on the way? You bet! Jamal Crawford from The New York Knicks is coming to town, and while I haven't seen any links yet stating that he's starting against the 76ers, Jamal's another fine addition to Nellie's already deep selection of guards. A number of our young prospects are looking real sharp and stepping up as well, The Anthony's (Randolph and Morrow) are showing some great production in minutes while Marco Belinelli is sort of coming alive. This road trip should be a great test for him if he gets minutes and uses them well. (The same goes for Brandon Wright.) Hopefully Azubuike will be back as well and the return of Monta is just around the corner. It'll be a whole new game from there!




The 76ers ) just came off an important win against Elton Brand's old team, the Clippers. Andre Iguodala played some great basketball that night dropping 14 points and delivering 12 assists. Andre Miller and Elton Brand stepped their game up as well and sent The Clippers home with a loss. I'm interested in seeing how our young guys match up against the 76ers. Our bench is hungry for minutes and we'll certainly see a little bit of everything from our bench. The good, the bad and the ugly! Everybody's gonna need to shoulder the weight as well. Captain Jack is gonna need to decrease his turnovers. Biedrins should remain dominant under the boards and Maggette needs to chuck in those points instead of bricking them! This road trip is going to be a major test for our team, lets get as many wins as we can Dubz!

The Harrington for Crawford swap has dominated the news in Warrior land at the moment (I'll post more thoughts on this later) but I'm not sure how this benefits both teans.

The Bullswere asbolutely destroyed by Portland 116-74 although ithelped that they started Aaron Gay and Larry Hughes so could be an easy win. I doubt it since NBA teams rarely play poorly back to back nights. We'll see what kind of team the Bulls are tomorrow. Will they come out angry and aggressive or will they play like they want this road trip to be over? I'd say the Dubs come out strong and lead the entire way but it'll be close the entire way.

Anthony Morrow His third straight big game? Do I smell another 20+ points? I'm still holding back because 2 games does not make you "for real". But how fun is it to watch Morrow light it up like we haven't seen in a long time. You can bet the Bulls are not going to leave him open. There's now 2 games of him to break down so let's see how the Bulls adjust.

Derrick Rose: The #1 pick is living up to his top billing. He's scoring 18 a game on 46% shooting to go with 5.5 assists and 4 boards. I always find it fun to watch the top rookies strut their stuff.

Nellie's back to his small ball lineup now that Morrow got hot. Let's see if Maggette can take advantage on offense of facing the other team's power forward.

Golden State V LA Clippers Preview

When Baron Davis left for the LA Clippers in the offseason it signalled the end of an era. The end of remembering that ludiciorus Speedy Claxton trade that got him sent here, the end of remembering that memorable 2006-2007 season where we had that 16-5 April run with the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA. The end of remembering that Playoff series with the Mavericks. Yes the guy had a lot of downsides to him but looking at CJ watson starting makes you wish for the Baron days.

Mind you Baron hasn't transformed the Clippers just yet. They stand at 1-7 and with the talent they have you'd think they might be just a little better, But then when Mike Dunleavy senior is cosching thats when you know you're screwed. Unfortunately for everyone this has been a lose lose situation. Mind you of course Baron wants to prove the team wrong for not getting the contract he wanted whilst I'm sure Magette will try to shake away his injury prone status he earned in Clipper land and try and have a big game. In the end no matter the outcome, it's not going to prove anything other than the highlight reels and that distant phrase we used to say ... "we believe".

Isn't it ironic that the Pistons make a ironic trade and yet still lose two straight. Yes Iverson got his forst win against a team the Warriors couldn't but it's becoming obvious how much the Pistons have declined. Yes on paper they look a better team but unlike Tuesday the TNT apperance plus the energy the crowd should bring will be a lot different. It's also worth remembering that like last year the Warriors are playing down to their competition so who knows? .With the arrival of Randolph and the playing time of Belinelli slowly increasing, the bench will be the key to victory here. Azu has solidified himself as one of the most productive bench players in the NBA. Not to mention Corey coming back and Ronny.

It all depends on how Jackson guards Iverson as I can't imagine Watson taking him. My heart says a Warrior win but my head says a Pistons one really

How do I wipe away the pain of last nights 49ers loss?. Simple watch a game between the worst two teams in the Western Conference. Granted obviously the signs are there for improvement but with Harrington disgruntled and Magette sitting on the sideline it means the kids will play and that could mean an ugly game. Randolph might make a nice play and Wright could block a few shots here and there but please don't confuse this with the showtime Laker. The kids might miss a Defensive assignment or turn the ball over and while this is the best way to learn it's not the best Basketball to watch. Unless Gerald wallace or David Lee come here after soon to be gone Mullin swings a trade it's going to be a long season

In other words this sucks. Be resigned to the fact that the Warriors have sunk pretty low at the moment and are resonated to rebuilding for the lucrative 2010 Free agency class. Didn't expect anything else but hopefully with Harrington and Magette out the youngsters will show some of the fight they displayed against Memphis. Lets hope sooner rather then later

Time to end the messy Memphis display as the Warriors face the new look Nuggets team tonight Change seems to happening everywhere not just with the election of Obama but we face a new look Nuggets team who shipped Iverson off to Detroit in return for Billups and McDyess. Truth be told they still have Carmelo Anthony and K-Mart to cause problems in the frontcourt. Wait how exactly were the Nuggets an 8th seed again last year?

There's still hope though. ‘Melo traditionally bangs up our soft interior when we step onto the court with him. I'm pretty interested to how Turiaf can affect this. So far he's been pretty impressive at times on D in the paint. Hopefully Nellie gives him enough time to display some of that muscle tonight. Shutting down ‘Melo scoring at will is going to be a huge key to this game.

If you had told me three weeks ago that without baron and Monta we would be 1-2 I would have accepted it. The last three games we haven't all been bad and after ending the New Jersey hodoo a playoff shot isn't impossible. The firt two games were lost to pretty good teams with the Hornets and Raptors both 3-0 both games close and it seemed as though our young team couldn't put them away. But last Saturday we came back and beat the Nets on the road thanks to the dynamic trio of Jackson, Biedrins, and Maggette. All of them scored over 20 points and I'm hoping this could be a start of something big. On the other hand Memphis are a young team and thanks to Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo they have something to build on in the future. Golden State should win this but Marc gasol should cause problems in the middle. Could be an interesting game

It all begins tonight. Never mind a disasterous offseason or uncertainty regarding the Front Office tonight marks the tipoff of a new season and with that brings hope. Right now pessimism surronds Golden State. And who can blame them. Baron Davis opted out of his contract and shocked everyone by signing with the Clippers. Back in 2005, when Chris Mullin made that huge trade that brought the Warriors their first superstar in many, many years, it put this franchise back on the NBA map. Now three years later Golden State needs the leader. The question is where will it come from.

Stephen Jackson?. Is the loudest and an undoubted leader as well as a major locker room influence. Can Corey Maggette step up his game, Will Randolph and Wright get decent playing time off the bench, Will Nelson overtake Lenny Wilkens as the NBA's winningest coach. We shall see

Tonight's game is scary. Chris Paul vs DeMarcus Nelson or Marcus Williams scares me. Heck, Chris Paul vs them both at the same time scares me. David West scares me. Peja Stojakovic scares me. Adding James Posey scares me. The Hornets are better than last year. The Warriors? Not so much. Then again I am looking forward to watching Corey Maggette tear it up and hopefully play well enough for us to ship us out during the Trade deadline. , I'm excited to see Ronny Turiaf play. We finally have a legitimate banger inside to muscle up on the opposing bigs. I'm excited to see if Brandan Wright or Anthony Randolph will pan out and not be complete busts. And lastly, I'm excited to see how the two veterans, Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington respond to being the leaders of such a young team and what's looking to be a very difficult road to the playoffs

Golden State V New Orleans Preview Preseason Game #1

Not much to be excited about in the Bay Area these days. The Niners just got smacked around by the Pats and the Raiders last time I checked are still being led by Al Davis but at least NBA basketball is coming to our screens in the shape of Preseason. The newly look Warriors without Baron or Monta face off against future opening day opponents the Hornets. Back to mediocrity again

Though I'm not enthuiastic at all about the Maggette acquistion I'm excited to see him in a Warrior outfit. I'm also anxious to see how much Randolph, Wright and Beans have progressed on the off season. I expect big things this year. Wait who am I kidding...

The fine folks of Salt Lake City that had attended the first two days of the Rocky Mountain Revue and returned Monday for Day 3 saw something new today. What they saw was Warriors’ style basketball. The same up and down Warriors’ style basketball that has been a staple in the Bay Area since Don Nelson returned as head coach two seasons ago.


Anthony Randolph spent most of the game driving aggressively to the hole, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Randolph was just 2-of-10 from the floor, but on nearly a half-dozen occasions he could have/should have drawn a foul call after taking hard contact in the lane. Despite a slew of questionable non-calls, the Warriors first round pick still managed to get to the free throw line 13 times, making 11, thanks to his aggressive attacks to the hole.

Here's hoping the streaming works. And that the "fine folks of Salt Lake City" get treated to more Run and Gun B-Ball

Well the final game of the Warriors Vegas Summer League tips off tonight before they head to Utah and a Rocky Mountain Revue starting on Monday. Had Jason Thompson missed that tip in with 17.6 seconds left they would probably have emerged undefeated but like I said winning or losing in this League matters little unless you were 0-6!. But I disgress. So many factors contributed to last nights loss whether it was Marco's 1-11 shooting or Hendrix still out (Stephen Lasme Part 2). Jason Thompson was a guy many draftniks said the Kings picked way too early but if he works out for them, just goes to show that all those mock drafts and "experts" really don't have much more insight than you and I. But it also reminded me that Mullin and Nelson threw out feelers that they wanted Thompson possibly getting the Kings to jump the gun and "reach" for him at #12. His numbers are nice looking as well 15 points on 53% shooting and 8.5 boards in 27 minutes a night.

Anyway our opponents tonight have little one of consequence except Joel Graham is the most recognizable player on their roster followed by Rod Benson famous for his well known blog Too much Rod Benson. He's only played in 4 minutes this summer league - that's why the Raptors are 1-3. Not sure why he's not playing more minutes (injury?) but he's a top D-League player and well worth checking out
